Top 5 Reasons to Drive Overnight

Top. 5 reasons to Drive Overnight

5. Cooler weather - don't have to worry about car overheating. (Trust me being stranded in the desert is no fun)

4. Save money - less stops at restaurants or stores since they closed. (More $$$ must I say more)

3. Sleeping Little ones - much easier to drive without lil backseat drivers fussing or being overly needy. (Peace and quiet)

2. No blinding sun - sometimes the sunglasses and sun visors just don't cut it. (We've all been there)

1. Less Traffic - not many other drivers to slow you down. (The road is yours)

Top 5 Reasons why Road Trips are better than flying

Top 5 Reasons why Road Trips are better than flying.

5. Avoid Awkward – Avoid the awkwardness of sitting next to the loud snorer or the annoying loud mouth!

4. Quality Time – when driving you get plenty of time to bond with your friends and family, time to connect deeper and make your relationships stronger.

3. Food Options – skip the peanuts and the coke, try something new! There are many one of a kind and unique restaurants on the road!

2. Sight Seeing – On our Road Trip to California we saw way more than if we would have flown, we stopped by the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Santa Monica Pier and Disneyland before arriving at our destination. Get the most out of your vacation!

1. Save money– When you add it all up you get more for your money when driving, plane tickets vary in price but cost much more than you think when compared to driving expenses. One example is our Trip to Portland, Oregon -  plane ticket from Tulsa to Portland are around $600 one way, per person (according to Google.com/flights), with a family of three that would be $3600 round trip. For much less than that you can afford gas, hotels, oil changes, food and so much more fun!

Anniversary MiniTrip + QuickTip

So for our anniversary I'm taking my wife on a cruise but considering the cruise isn't for two more weeks we had to do something now to celebrate. So right now we are driving through the crazy Oklahoma weather to Oklahoma City where luckily the storm will have died off by the time we arrive. We are going to Frontier City Amusement Park!

QuickTip- we bought our tickets at out college campus for only 20 dollars each when ticket price cost 34.99 each at the gate, 26.99 + 5.00 processing fee each for advance online tickets. So don't underestimate student discounts!

Comment and Share below with us what kind of discounts you have used to help save you $$$ on your trips.

RoadTrip tip #2 Find your WAZE

Every Road trip we take no matter if its short or long I always use the WAZE app. (Available on IPhone, Android phone and even Windows phone)  Even if I know exactly where I am going I still use WAZE. Why? Because this app does not only show you where to go, it also updates real time with users reporting traffic, construction, police officers, and more.  I personally believe it is the best navigational app around. It has helped me save time by rerouting around construction zones and high traffic areas. I also enjoy being able to text or email my live map where they can watch you as you drive to the destination. On our road trip to California my wife’s grandmother could watch us from her computer and ensure we were going the correct way. I highly recommend downloading and using this app! Oh and by the way its completely free!

Check it out and please comment and tell us what your favorite apps are!

Road trip tip #1 Leave room for RANDOM

You never know what you may find on your way.

One perfect example is what we found on our multi-day voyage back home from our Portland, Oregon.  When driving through Colorado we saw a sign for Rifle Falls State Park. It was only ten minutes out of the way. When arriving we were amazed to see a beautiful triple waterfall, with caves and hiking trails!

Please comment and share with us times when you left room for random and what you saw!
